I had a short time frame to work with but in the last 8 weeks of Ellie’s prep we increased her calories up to 2300 , jacked training volume substantially so we could have a high threshold to cut down from. This is not the case with every client , when deciding to do a competion my advice is give yourself a 6 month look ahead – time to build metabolic capacity and track your training volume ! I’m a big believer in training smart . Mastering the basics and the rest falls into place.
